Survive Day 1 in 7 Days Cat-Sitting

A first-night plan that stops Misplaced and the endings that end runs early.

7 Days Cat-Sitting Day 1 Survival Guide

Most failed weeks in 7 Days Cat-Sitting die on Day 1—not because the first day is uniquely cruel, but because players treat it like a tutorial they can skim. This guide is a focused survival plan for your first twenty-four in-game hours: learn the house, finish the chore loop once cleanly, catch Misplaced layout lies, survive the first anomaly without panicking, and sleep only after a strict audit. Pair it with Getting Started for mechanics, the Daily Chores Checklist as your spoken loop, and Anomalies for threat cards. Save badge experiments for later via All Endings.

Goal for Day 1

Wake up on Day 2 with Whiskers alive, the house intact, and no accidental badge. You are not hunting Cannon Good Ending yet; you are proving the loop. After a clean Day 1, extending to seven days becomes repetition—see Cannon Good Ending.

Minute-zero orientation (do not sleep yet)

Before interacting with food or mail:

  1. Walk living room → kitchen → hallway → bathroom → laundry → bedroom.
  2. Click-find cupboard, bowl, litter box, laser pointer, front door, mailbox path, fridge, microwave, stove, TV, and bed.
  3. Snapshot the living-room layout — especially furniture near the TV and the wall color behind it. You will need that mental photo later for Misplaced.
  4. Note at least one closable back room for HIDE drills.
  5. Open the phone once so camera controls feel familiar.

Orientation prevents the classic death spiral: anomaly appears, you cannot find the toilet flush or a closable door, you freeze, you sleep in panic, you earn Found You, Down the Drain, or Peek a boo by accident.

First chore loop (spoken checklist)

Keep the full Daily Chores Checklist open, and say each line as you complete it:

  1. “Food from cupboard into bowl.”
  2. “Litter cleaned—minigame finished.”
  3. “Laser bar full—no crazy spins.”
  4. “Mail grabbed.”
  5. “Door locked.”
  6. “Dinner out, fridge closed, heated, eaten.”
  7. “Stove off, TV off.”
  8. “Windows and hallway normal—or fixed.”
  9. “Furniture and wall colors still match spawn—or investigated.”
  10. “Sleep.”

If any line is a lie, do not sleep. Day 1 endings that punish skimmed chores include Unfinished Business, Uh oh Stinky, Ancy, Evicted, Intruder Alert, Starved, Cya Later, Cold as Ice, Fired, and Screen Time.

Misplaced furniture and wall-color tells

Misplaced is the quiet Day 1 killer. Survival-video comment sections are full of players who did every loud chore correctly, slept proud, and woke with the Misplaced badge because a chair moved, a lamp shifted, or the wall color behind the TV no longer matched spawn. It is not a hallway monster. It is a layout lie.

How to handle it on Day 1:

  1. During orientation, deliberately note furniture positions and the backdrop behind the TV.
  2. Before sleep, walk the living room again. Ask: does anything look rearranged? Is the wall behind the TV the same color/tone as at spawn?
  3. If something is wrong, investigate / interact with the misplaced piece (community and walkthrough notes treat investigation as the survival response).
  4. Only ignore the tell if you are intentionally farming the badge — see the focused Misplaced Ending page.

Do not confuse Misplaced with Void (outdoor darkness + missing mailbox) or Tall Man (hallway silhouette you photograph). Soft prop tells belong on the night audit next to fridge and door checks. Pair this subsection with the Daily Chores Checklist so the layout scan is never optional flavor.

First anomaly protocol

When something weird appears on Day 1, stop optional exploration:

  1. Identify the sign using Anomalies.
  2. Apply the hard fix (blinds, photo, wait, flush, stare, curtains, TV on, or hide).
  3. Re-check the room after the fix.
  4. Resume unfinished chores.
  5. Re-run the spoken checklist — including the Misplaced furniture pass.

Special Day 1 notes:

  • Void can confuse mail. Solve blinds first; do not invent a “skip mail” excuse or you will wake Evicted or Voided (Voided Ending).
  • Catzilla needs TV on, then TV off before bed—Day 1 players often leave it on and get Screen Time after doing the hard part right (Catzilla Ending).
  • Tall Man needs a phone photo or you risk Peek a boo (Peek a Boo Ending).
  • Granny is a patience test. Opening the door “to be sure” is how you get Granny is Here before you understand the joke.
  • HIDE is a movement test. Sprint to your pre-scouted back room; do not hide in the open hallway.

The ten-second pre-sleep audit

Stand at the bedroom doorway and ask:

  • Is the front door closed and locked?
  • Is the fridge shut?
  • Did I eat?
  • Is litter done and laser full?
  • Does Whiskers look like Whiskers?
  • Are windows/blinds/curtains correct?
  • Is the toilet empty?
  • Is the hallway empty?
  • Is the TV off?
  • Does living-room furniture / the wall behind the TV still match spawn?
  • Is anything flashing HIDE?

If you hesitate on any answer, walk the house again. Hesitation is information.

Common Day 1 failure stories (and fixes)

“I locked the door” (you did not). Touch the lock interactable every night; do not trust memory after mail runs.

“Laser was done” (bar reset). Standing too far restarts progress—finish a clean fill before leaving the living room.

“I handled the window face” (wrong window). Check every exterior pane.

“Dinner was fine” (fridge still open). Closing the fridge is a separate action from taking food.

“Everything looked fine” (Misplaced). Comment sections under Day 1 survival videos are full of this exact complaint. Re-check furniture and the wall behind the TV; open Misplaced Ending if you still die confused.

“I wanted to see what the back door does.” That is Pranked. Curiosity is for run two.

Multiplayer Day 1

If friends join, nominate a caller who reads the checklist out loud. One player should own lock duty. One player should own the Misplaced living-room scan. Do not all stare at the first jumpscare while the litter remains dirty.

After you survive Day 1

  1. Repeat the same loop on Day 2 without inventing new rules — keep Daily Chores Checklist open.
  2. Deepen anomaly memory with Anomalies.
  3. When ready for the week clear, follow Cannon Good Ending.
  4. When ready for chaos, farm All Endings on fresh runs.
  5. Keep Guides bookmarked; check Updates after patches.
  6. Ignore unverified Codes lists—none are confirmed required for survival.

Mindset

Day 1 is a systems exam disguised as a cat joke. The game teaches that domestic carelessness is the monster — including quiet furniture lies, not only loud hallway threats. Move slowly, narrate chores, fix threats with the documented responses, and treat sleep as a submit button you only press when the form is complete. Survive tonight; the other six days are the same lesson with better jump scares.

Related hubs worth a glance after your first clear night: Players for cast context, Tier List for which mistakes veterans rate worst, Scripts only if you are researching tools offline, and Wiki for the high-level pitch. Your immediate job is simpler: feed the cat, clean the box, finish the laser, get the mail, lock the door, eat dinner, fix the weird thing, confirm the living room still matches spawn, sleep. Do that once without a badge popup and Day 1 is yours.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about surviving Whiskers and every anomaly.

Why do so many players fail Day 1 in 7 Days Cat-Sitting?

They rush sleep before locking the door, closing the fridge, finishing laser play, fixing the first anomaly, or noticing Misplaced furniture and wall-color tells. Use a spoken checklist before bed.

What should I do before starting chores on Day 1?

Walk the whole house, locate every interactable, snapshot living-room furniture and the wall behind the TV, and note a back room for HIDE so you are not learning the map during an emergency.

What is the Misplaced ending on Day 1?

Sleeping after ignoring furniture in the wrong place or wall-color changes (often behind the TV). Investigate layout lies on survival runs; see the Misplaced Ending guide for details.

I stopped Catzilla but still got a bad ending. Why?

Turning the TV on stops the creature, but leaving it on overnight can trigger Screen Time. Turn the TV off again before sleeping.

Is Day 1 different from later days?

The chore rules are the same. Day 1 feels harder because navigation, Misplaced recognition, and anomaly literacy are new. Master the loop once, then repeat.

Should I farm endings on my first day?

No. Survive a clean Day 1 first, then attempt the Cannon Good Ending week, and only then farm bad endings on purpose.

Where do I go after surviving the first night?

Keep the Daily Chores Checklist open, study Anomalies, and follow the Cannon Good Ending page when you attempt the full seven-day clear.
